چکیده
In the conventional static analysis of building frames, base is idealised on rigid supports and subdivided into three parts namely, superstructure, foundation ground soil, before design. real life situations, soil underneath undergoes deformations which may alter performance structure. this paper, it studied effect type response a frame system with both fixed flexible base. The Winkler model soil-structure interaction adopted to study influence flexibility rigidity 4 storey RC regular plan resting types soils light peat marshy ground, wet clay medium gravel fine sand. Three foundations are considered in study: isolated footings, tied raft (with without overhangs) foundations. developed using springs by Finite Element Method SAP2000. settlement, bending moment, shear force axial parameters placed forth for comparative study. Results obtained reveal an increase structure respect rigidity.

Analysis of non-connected piled raft foundations (NCPRF) with cushion by finite element method
For the optimum design of Piled Raft Foundations (PRF), the concept of settlement reducer piles has been applied. However, when these piles are connected to the raft, a high stress may develop in the relatively small number of piles. Therefore, an alternative approach is to disconnect the piles from the raft forming a new system called a non-connected or disconnected piled-raft foundation (NCPR...
متن کاملTheoretical Foundations of the Finite Element Method
Using finite element methods, we need to answer these questions: • What is the appropriate functional space V for the solution? • What is the appropriate weak or variational form of a differential equation? • What kind of basis functions or finite element spaces should we choose? • How accurate is the finite element solution? We briefly address these questions in this Chapter. Recalling that fi...
متن کاملAnalysis of High-order Approximations by Spectral Interpolation Applied to One- and Two-dimensional Finite Element Method
The implementation of high-order (spectral) approximations associated with FEM is an approach to overcome the difficulties encountered in the numerical analysis of complex problems. This paper proposes the use of the spectral finite element method, originally developed for computational fluid dynamics problems, to achieve improved solutions for these types of problems. Here, the interpolation n...
متن کاملAppropriate Loading Techniques in Finite Element Analysis of Underground Structures
Stability of underground structures is assessed by comparing rock strength with induced stresses resulted from ground stresses. Rock mass surrounding the opening may fail either by fracture or excessive deformation caused. Accurate calculation of induced stresses is therefore fundamental in the stability analysis of an opening. Although numerical methods, particularly finite element method, are...
متن کاملA boundary element/finite difference analysis of subsidence phenomenon due to underground structures
Analysis of the stresses, displacements, and horizontal strains of the ground subsidence due to underground excavation in rocks can be accomplished by means of a hybridized higher order indirect boundary element/finite difference (BE/FD) formulation. A semi-infinite displacement discontinuity field is discretized (numerically) using the cubic displacement discontinuity elements (i.e. each highe...
